Cape Breton Regional Police attend Glace Bay Arson

April 9th, 2025 @ approximately 1400hrs Cape Breton Regional Police attended a suspicious fire at 11 Lyng, Street, Glace Bay. Digby RCMP looking to identify thief

Digby RCMP received a report from NSLC that at 1513 hours on April 14th, 2025, a male wearing a green jacket, blue sweater, blue pants, and white shoes stole several items of liquor from the store.

NSLC store employees report that the male left in a silver Chevrolet 4 door pickup truck. Unknown plate. A NSLC store employee stated that she saw the male get into the rear passenger seat of the vehicle that was driven by a white male.

The male is described as white, 6’2’’, 250lbs, with short hair on the side and ponytail on top, with a beard.

Fire deemed suspicious by Deputy Fire Marshall and attending Fire Department

April 9th, 2025 @ approximately 1400hrs 

On the above date and time Cape Breton Regional Police was dispatched to 11 Lyng street Glace Bay for the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival policer spoke to the fire chief, who stated the fire is suspicious as there were various ignition points in the home and accelerates found. There was also a pot of grease left on the stove with the burner on high.

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment investigating attempted robbery

April 20, Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia… RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is investigating an attempted robbery in Cole Harbour.

On April 19, at approximately 6:05 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment and EHS responded to a report of an altercation between two men in the parking lot of a grocery store on Forest Hills Parkway.

Upon arrival, officers observed two men fighting inside a car. One man immediately complied with officers’ directions while the other tried to drive away when officers attempted to arrest him. One of the responding officers deployed their conductive energy weapon to aid in the arrest of the man. The 31-year-old man of Cole Harbour was then safely arrested for attempted robbery.

The investigation, which is in its early stages, indicates that the 31-year-old man attempted to steal the car and the other man, who was the vehicle owner, tried to prevent him from doing so. Both men are known to each other. The two suffered minor injuries due to the altercation. No one else was injured in the incident.

The 31-year-old man was transported to hospital by EHS; he remains in police custody. The vehicle owner was treated at the scene and released pending further investigation.
